Does this sound familiar?
- Bear just won't listen. We tell him what to do, but he ignores us.
- My dog is out of control- jumping on people, stealing things around the house, won't come when called, destroying things- help!
- King growls when I try to get him off the furniture, or take his food or toy away.
We'll be away for a week, can you train Lucy instead of her going to a kennel?
- I don't even want to take walks anymore; Sassy won't stop pulling or lunging at other dogs.
- Chloe is aggressive; she just bit someone.
- The puppy won't stop nipping the kids, and it hurts!
- Rex keeps messing on the carpet, even though he knows better.
- We just adopted this dog from the shelter, and he has "issues".
- I just want a polite, well-mannered dog- not this lunatic!
- I just got a puppy and want to train her, but the vet said I have to wait for all her shots.
-
Missy thinks she's human, so I've spoiled her. Now she's pushy, snappy, and barks at everything.
Whether you have any of these or other problems with your dog, or just want some basic training and manners, help is on the way!
Recommended by northern Michigan Veterinarians, the Humane Society, groomers, petsitters, feedstores, and many satisfied customers from Traverse City, Gaylord, Cheboygan, Mackinac Island, Sault St. Marie, and every town in-between. Aggression cases have come from as far as Detroit, Kalamazoo, and Grand Rapids because of the dog-friendly methods used.
"Patty, I can't thank you enough! You were our last resort for Dakota; other trainers and our vet recommended euthanasia. We noticed such a big difference just after the first session; it was a miracle! We now have hope." J.S., Cheboygan
"With kids, jobs, and my parents, we just didn't have the time to train the puppy. We seriously considered giving her up. After a week with you, she came home a new dog and now WE know what to do. When I drop her off every week for continued training, she gets so excited, and I can get errands done. Thank you! We've told all our friends to call you." J.L. Bay Harbor
"I LOVED Puppy class! Besides being so much fun to watch the puppies play, I learned alot, and so did Daisy. I looked forward to every Sunday. The best part was watching our daughter gain so much confidence around dogs. Thanks for all the handouts, too!" D.M., Oden

Important Note: Due to recovery from a long illness, I cannot tolerate strong odors/chemicals. The Training Studio is therefore a scent-free zone. Scented products include perfume, body washes, scented soaps and shampoos, cologne, after-shave, hairspray, etc. Would you mind please refraining from using these products on the day of your appointment? Thank you! I know you'd rather have a trainer who can think straight than one with a tension headache! I apologize for any inconvenience; yes, it's a pain! ("But I'm worth it!") This applies to your dog also; please do not schedule an appointment within 3 days of your dog being groomed- the fragrances in dog products are more toxic to me than people stuff! If you'd like more info on safer alternatives, just ask- I've become an expert!

Puppy Classes!! I've been seeing alot of new puppies lately. Do you have a summer puppy? Come on out and help your puppy get the critical socialization and basic training that he/she needs. 8-16 weeks old. (Older puppies/dogs with approval or in separate classes.) These classes are small enough for individual attention and are geared towards the enrolled puppies- no "set" curriculum. But guaranteed lots of fun and education for puppies and owners! For more info, click here.
Sept 8 Mondays @ 5:30pm Level 1 older puppies Graduated Sept 9 Tuesdays @5:30pm Level 2/Refresher- Graduated Oct.20 Mondays @ 5:30pm Level 2/Refresher 2 spaces (classes may start at 6pm if class prefers)
I will be offering Level 1 and Level 2 classes regularly. Call to get on the list or suggest other dates/times if these don't work for you. Classes meet once a week for 4 weeks and are $80.
Over the years, my puppy owners have found MUCH more success in preventing problem behaviors with the combination of a private session then class, therefore the "New Puppy Starting Out Right" session with you and your puppy (and family) is a prerequisite for Puppy Class. The private session is at your convenience, bring the whole family,is $100 ($120 over 14 weeks) and lasts 2 hours. We cover So much in this private session!! Your investment now will pay off later; don't miss your new puppy's critical learning period! Lots of puppy playtime and socialization included in class.
"Thanks for the terrific (New Puppy) training session! Matt [husband] was so glad he went, and he's even coming to puppy kindergarten now. Thanks so much, again. You can add him to your list of men who thought they wouldn't need the class, but then loved it and wanted to come back. I also learned a lot, and we've been practicing the new skills with Ike. " S.B., Petoskey
"I can't get over how much we learned in the private session before Puppy Class, and now see how valuable it was to have that before class. Daisy's doing SO well, way beyond our expectations, and we love coming to class. I told my vet you're the best. Thank you!!" S.W., Cheboygan
"We thank you very much, we are very impressed with clicker training, it certainly works for us...and I do think, that the one on one session you do before a class starts is great, you get to know us a little bit and what the dog can and cannot do , well I suppose what we can and cannot do....and then we liked it was such a small class.....nice people too..... Once again thank you....." D.T., Gaylord
